THESE amazing pictures show the moment a ferocious tiger picked a fight with a bear — and lost.

The female bear, carrying her two young cubs on her back, was enjoying a drink at a waterhole when the big cat crept up on her.
Taken off guard, the mum launched into the air towards the tiger and a three minute battle ensued.
Proving that up to 300kg of pure muscle is no match for a protective mother, the tiger — sensing defeat — eventually bolted off with its tail between its legs.

The incredible battle was a real treat for tourists at the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, India, since the powerful beasts normally avoid confrontation.
Stunned crowds clapped and cheered the bear, who had already fought off another tiger attack minutes before.
Aditya Singh, 45, who took the snaps, said: "It's a rare thing to see. I don't think more than a 100 people would have ever seen a bear and tiger face off in the wild."
