Commander Coulter’s 55-year journey for the perfect dive knife led to the creation of the BuckMaster 2.0. This next-generation BuckMaster is built to meet the exacting challenges of today’s military. The Buckmaster 2.0 Combat Diver Pro is only available until December 31, 2024, with only 1,000 available across all retail channels. The BuckMaster 2.0 has an anchor system called the Emergency Anchor Wing (EAW). Unlike the two-piece detachable pin system of the original BuckMaster, the EAW has a distinctive one-piece wing shape that is reversible and ambidextrous. The BuckMaster 2.0 has a strong spear point blade suited for diver-specific duties such as prying and digging. Infused with Commander Coulter’s field-based design intent and a specially formulated Paul Bos heat treatment developed by Paul himself, this knife stands at the ready no matter the application. Includes a USA-made black Kydex sheath. Sheath specifications: Omni-directional, friction fit, with a nylon backer and Emergency Anchor Wing (EAW) storage attachment. Has the ability to keep EAW in place while the knife is in the sheath. Made in the USA. 420HC Stainless Steel This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add Buck's exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance Buck hardens to a Rockwell hardness of RC 58.
Balance: It acts as a "sweet spot" for many high-performance tools, pocket knives, and survival knives.
Edge Retention: It stays sharp much longer than softer steels rated below RC 56.
Toughness: It is less brittle than extreme high-hardness steels (RC 62 and above), meaning it resists chipping during rugged tasks like chopping or prying.
Sharpening: It is still relatively easy to sharpen compared to ultra-hard steels.
