Here's what costs more than a barrel of oil
Oil prices have crashed to below $27 a gallon -- a level not seen since 2003 -- which makes a barrel of crude cheaper than lots of everyday purchases that we don't think twice about.

A barrel of....nothing
Cost: $43.71
That's how much an empty, reconditioned steel barrel costs all by itself. Of course, crude oil hasn't actually been shipped in barrels in quite some time, but they're still the industry's go-to yardstick
