In the history of Zen, (Hui-neng 638-713), traditionally considerde the Sixth Patreatch of the Zen seat in China, cuts a most important fogure. In fact, he is the founder of Zen as distinguished from the other Buddhism sects existing in China. The standard set up by him as the true explanation of Zen faith is this stanza:
