上面第一張照片，右上角的CirKus的One專集，讚！可惜這個團好像沒出過幾張專集。

昨晚聽CirKus，Suzane Vega，和Rossington Collins Band；這幾張的狀況都很好，只用唱片刷掃一遍，就沒什麼雜音了。

Suzane Vega的那張真不錯，每一首歌都是一個小故事。

另外值得一提的，Suzane Vega和Jade Warrior的兩張唱片都是DMM （Direct Metal Mastering）的。

Analogue Alchemy Gloria Turntable




Gloria - is even more superior turntable in our range of all-UK hand-built turntables, that is, again, a sophisticated, non-suspended record playing system. It has a unique construction and it is the biggest in our turntable range. As all of our turntables, Gloria has three stages, which are lined up as follows:

Stage ONE is a single 20 mm high translucent or black hand polished acrylic TT base (other colours available on a special order), with a 40mm high frosted acrylic platter, high precision bearing, large solid steel and aluminium adjustable feet and shoes, supplied with an adjustable aluminium tonearm plate of your choice. All system is sitting on a matching 20mm acrylic isolation platform with aluminium / steel feet and shoes and fitted bubble level. The isolation platform comes together with the turntable as an integrated part of the system, or can be obtained separately.


Stage TWO is a 40mm high single (TWO - S40) or a 20mm high dual base, separated by 20 mm high aluminium spacers (TWO - D20), translucent or black acrylic base (other colours available on a special order), with a 40mm high frosted acrylic platter, high precision bearing, large cylindrical solid aluminium and steel feet and shoes, with an adjustable aluminium tonearm plate of your choice. All system is sitting on a matching 20mm acrylic isolation platform with aluminium / steel feet and shoes and fitted bubble level. The isolation platform comes together with the turntable as an integrated part of the system, or can be obtained separately.

Stage THREE is a 40mm high single (THREE – S40) or a 20mm high dual base, separated by 20mm mm high aluminium spacers (THREE –D20), translucent or black acrylic base (other colours available on a special order), with a 60mm high frosted acrylic platter, high precision bearing, large cylindrical solid aluminium and steel feet and shoes, with sandwiched aluminium adjustable tonearm plate with aluminium semi-cylindrical spacers to bring the armplate to required height. All system, including standalone motor, is sitting on a matching 20mm acrylic isolation platform with aluminium / steel feet and shoes and fitted with a handy bubble level. The isolation platform comes together with the turntable as an integrated part of the system, or can be obtained separately.

Beautifully designed and striking looking GLORIA turntable can be obtained with two standalone 100mm diameter motor options: Stage I comes with a standard AC Motor, with speed adjusted by changing the belt position on the pulley. Stages II and III come with an advanced DC motor with separated electronic fine speed adjustments for 33 1/3 and 45 RPM. Any of three stages are very flexible and can take up to 4 arms: two of almost any arm – 9”, 10.5” or 12” arms, and two of up to 14” arms, if desired, with a special solid aluminium armboard of your choice, also used on our other models.

Soundsmith Hyperion

The Hyperion, Soundsmith’s new top-of-the-line moving-iron phono cartridge, utilizes a cactus needle cantilever. (That’s a cantilever made of a cactus needle.) Inspired by (the always dapper) Frank Schroeder and designed by Peter Ledermann, the Hyperion’s cactus needle cantilever provides both stiffness and damping—qualities which, according to Ledermann, had previously been mutually exclusive.

Superior cantilever designs, Ledermann explained, have traditionally been tapered—a technique that’s difficult to accomplish with aluminum and even more difficult with extremely hard and durable materials such as boron, ruby, and diamond. Cactus needles, however, are naturally tapered, stiff, and durable, while their stacked fibers provide natural dampening.

The Hyperion moving-iron phono cartridge ($7000) is available with Soundsmith’s CL or OCL styli, has a recommended tracking force of 1.8 to 2.2 grams, an output of 0.3mV, and is compatible with MC phono preamps. It is also available in a linear-tracking version, the Hyperion LT. Soundsmith guarantees the Hyperion for 10 years, and Peter Ledermann will retip the cartridge for free if it wears out within that time.

“Other cantilevers are synthesized,” said Ledermann. “We grow these.”

We listened to some music. The sound was not prickly or thorny at all. It was clean, clear, and immediate—bold and well-controlled—with vibrant colors and good senses of rhythm, touch, and scale.
