這張專輯分為兩個部分，除了第一部分收錄14首佛斯特作品之外，另外選了5首同樣經典的黑人靈歌。1619年荷蘭商船從非洲帶了20個奴工來到新世界，開啟了美國黑人超過兩百年的悲苦生活，但生性樂觀的非洲人並不自怨自艾，把壓抑的情緒轉向用音樂發洩，並經由宗教的慰藉，把工作時的呼喊轉為旋律，遂成為靈歌的起源，後來甚至影響了爵士樂的發展。這裡所選的「有時感覺像沒母親的孩子」、「輕輕搖擺，可愛的馬車」、「無人知道我的苦」、「在禱告時」、「奇異恩典」等都是膾炙人口的超級經典，經過蓋瑞．卡爾的巧手改編，用低音提琴訴說黑人難以言喻的苦楚與藉由宗教昇華的心靈。這張專輯錄製於1996年3月14日與15日兩天，地點在日本武藏野市民文化會館，原始母帶是King Records的錄音大師高浪初郎採用真空管設備與類比盤帶錄製。此次以SACD版本重新問世，交由全球頂尖的Pauler Acoustics母帶後製，展現最完美的音質效果。

More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior
Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a "convert." Delicate "converts" are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process.
