The Playback Designs Music Playback System 3, also known as MPS-3, is a product that is totally unique in today's market place. The MPS-3 is really two products in one single box: a world class CD transport combined with a discrete dual differential DAC that can also receive a variety of external digital sources, including computer based music servers - not only a unique and powerful combination, but also versatile in applications. Another unique feature of the MPS-3 is its ability to playback super high resolution files of up to 6.1MHz sample rate through USB. This is 32 times the resolution of players with the ability to playback 192kHz high resolution files.

Very strangety, MPS-5 was called "a world class CD/SACD transport combined with a DAC ";
MPS-3 was called "a world class CD transport combined with a discrete dual differential DAC"

Not a SACD player? A DVD rom drive again???

第一次看到有機子USB輸入比其他數位輸入的規格還高，不過這本來就應該是這樣..............

我很好奇這台是不是像EmmLabs新的機種一樣
裡面也放了非VSOP轉盤,
是個較平價的機種,也許是CD-pro2那類的?

沒有提到非同步式USB,不曉得是否又有獨門技術??

非同步USB對Playback來講不是那麼重要
因為他們有自己的技術

The USB add on will be available in April. We have not set the price yet, but we should know in the next few weeks.

Besides price, they are very different products. The 3 Series is less expensive to build as we have incorporated everything into one board. The drive that is used, is quite a bit less expensive than the Esoteric as we did not need it to play SACDs. Also, the chassis, while top notch, is not nearly as complicated to manufacture and build, hence less costly.

Sonically it is definitely worthy of the Playback Designs name. It does not have the ultimate refinement of our 5 Series products, but is certainly world class in every way.

Upon the 3 Series release, we will also be shipping an optional small box that will connect with the 5 Series products to allow DSD up to 6.1MHz and PCM up to 384kHz through USB.

It is a 4 x 6 x 1 box that will use a proprietary connection which will only work with Playback Designs products.

He also said that the USB interface sounds better than the AES interface, which was his previous top choice to hookup a music server.

Digital inputs:
AES: XLR connector for AES/EBU formatted stereo linear PCM data, up to 24bits and up to 192kHz.
S/PDIF: same as AES, but S/PDIF formatted on RCA connector.
TOSLINK: same as S/PDIF, but on optical connector.
PLAYLINK: Proprietary links to future Playback Designs equipment.

or using the AUXILIARY connector?

看到CES的圖片, MPS-3的睇背板少了好多東西 :

ST optical out, cock out, PLAYLINK in, USB for update firmware, 50Ω audio out, RS232, AUXILIARY等等.
