New at CEDIA from Mark Levinson is the No.500H series of power amps, including the No.531H (mono, 300W, $6500), No.532H (two channels, 300Wpc, $8000), and No. 533H (three channels, 300Wpc, $10,000), and No.535H (five channels, 200Wpc, $12,000), all with a frequency response from 10Hz to 20kHz and THD less than 0.5%. A new circuit design emphasizes current-mode operation, which is said to be much faster than conventional voltage-mode operation. Independent power-supply components for each channel maximize isolation and improve imaging, and all models provide both single-ended and balanced inputs.

The N˚500H array of amplifiers redefines the concept of outstanding performance in their categories by drawing on the Mark Levinson heritage of superb design and engineering as well as the incorporation of a new balanced current-feedback amplifier (CFA) circuitry design. The result is a power amplifier that meets and exceeds the expectations of even the most demanding listener, and one worthy of the name Mark Levinson.
The new circuitry design used in the N˚500H Series amplifiers is the key to their amazing performance. CFA design uses a circuit topology that emphasizes current-mode operation, which is inherently much faster than more conventional voltage-mode operation. With CFAs, amplifier gain may be controlled independently of bandwidth, a major advantage over conventional VFA topologies. By embracing new technology with Mark Levinson’s traditional passion for excellence, the N˚500H Series amplifiers combine truly impressive output capabilities with Mark Levinson’s characteristically high power efficiency. Other features of the N˚500H Series include reliable high power in four different channel configurations that provide ideal solutions for any type of system, independent power supply components for each channel to maximize isolation and improve imaging, isolated chassis and signal grounds that minimize noise and optimize sonic detail even at lower listening levels, and balanced and single-ended inputs. Furthermore, custom home systems integrators will appreciate the N˚500H Series’ Ethernet and 12-Volt trigger control capability, allowing for easier integration into home networks.
There are four amplifier models in the N˚500H Series all offering different numbers of channels. The N˚531H (300 Watts) = 1 channel, the N˚532H (600 Watts) = 2 channels and the N˚533H (900 watts) = 3 channels. They all feature extremely low Total Harmonic distortion (<0.5%) excellent signal-to-noise ration, and frequency response from 10 Hz to 20 kHz. The N˚535H is rated for 1,000 Watts and offers five balanced XLR inputs per channel, five unbalanced RCA inputs per channel, and five pairs of loudspeaker outputs with banana-plug sockets per channel. All N˚500H Series amplifiers feature an Ethernet 10Base-T port, a 3.5mm mono mini-plug trigger input, a 3.5mm mono mini-plug trigger output, and a 3-pin IEC standard power connector.
“With their combination of innovation and time-tested design techniques, the new N˚500H Series amplifiers live up to the heritage of all Mark Levinson audio products,” states Phil McPhee, Marketing Manager, Harman Performance AV Group. “Now, the custom home systems integrator has another beautiful color for their upscale home theater palette.”

Phono One was for many years one of the most appreciated models in the Unison Research catalogue. It has now been completely renewed and improved, although its look of elegant and timeless simplicity remains the same.
An all-tube design with elastic suspension, it uses five ECC83 double triode valves in parallel configuration to give excellent low noise and distorsion characteristics. Cross-talk also is extremely low at -90dB. Overall gain of the Phono One is 54dB, and switchable resistance and capacitance loading makes it suitable for all MM and most MC cartridges.The sound is pure, with supreme natural detail and great clarity. Truly a top class phono stage.

Malibran is the first loudspeaker system designed by Opera and produced by Unison Research. It is named in homage to the great 19th Century soprano Maria Malibran, whose remarkable life and talent was cut short at the age of just 28. She is remembered today as a legend in Venice, where a Theatre is named after her.
The Malibran loudspeaker incorporates all the important technical solutions and innovations developed by Opera in recent years, including the inward-firing sub-bass section, the progressive low-pass filter, the Cross-Linked Dipole rear tweeter array and the TEB (totally enclosed box) with sealed enclosures for each bass driver.
The Malibran cabinet and is made up of an inner cabinet of multi-layer plywood and thick MDF, with an outer layer of finely sculpted and highly polished real wood. The overall volume is 146 litres and weight is 120kgs, the whole structure being virtually inert and resonance-free.
Wheels are fitted for easy movement.
Although there are 12 drive units in total, Malibran is in reality an extended two-way system, with powerful passive sub-woofer and cross-linked dipole radiating system all in the same cabinet. Its particular design makes it easy to use in any room, whether large or small.

dCS have begun production of a new premium remote handset for Paganini systems and Puccini player.
The new remote handset is available in black only, is housed in a solid aluminium case and weighs in at 440g.
It has most of the same features as the previous remote handset, but will also support upsamplers, thus it can be used to operate a 4 box Paganini or Scarlatti system.
Although this means an increase in price to Puccini, something as necessary as the remote needs to be, and is now, of the same style and build quality as the player itself. It is also worth pointing out that new Puccini owners will now get a number of new features including; upsampling on the digital inputs (upon registering and loading a license key) and clocking for the digital inputs, all included in this new price.
For existing Paganini and Puccini owners the remote is available to buy as a separate and comes in a special presentation box. The end user price is ca €300. These remotes will comefully tested and with standard three year warranty as per the dCS warranty policy.
