以當時人的聽覺習慣來說，史特拉汶斯基(Stravinsky)的音樂是前衛、混亂、吵雜，以當時人的聽覺習慣來說，太多他創造出來的聲響是他們無法接受的，而已現在觀點「春之祭」」(Le Sacre du Printemps)，則是一首現代音樂的經典之作。作曲者完全擺脫印象派與浪漫主義的影響，徹底發展出自我的音樂風格，也開啟了現代樂派的革命性時代。然而，其複雜而大膽獨創的節奏、狂野而原始的不協和音，在習慣必須有「優美旋律」的二十世紀初，卻是離經叛道之舉。
