in early dates, beside recording engineer, that's assitant engineer who mainly take care of all the musicians' headset cue level, balance and make sure musicians can listen the whole picture of the session/or recorded tracks
what's the priority today? market, artist/singer,songs, musician, producer
..........wonder any put engineer at top priority
其實這問題是很自然可以解決的,在錄音現場,音樂就讓演出者自己去完全發揮,讓他們自己找到彼此之間最協調最有默契、舒服的演出位置 (例如某個樂器是跟另外一個樂器要彼此都看得到才能最協調),這種默契與完美的一場演出一定要在同一時間同一空間才有辦法,分開錄,不論是同時間不同空間,或是不同時間同空間,或是不同時間與空間,都沒有辦法是很完整的音樂,一定會少了些什麼。
錄音師的角色就是微調他們的位置以期能收到最好的效果,盡量不影響他們演出,若古典錄音,指揮就是負責整體音樂演出的呈現
另外一個多隻麥克風的問題,每隻麥克風的特性與音色都有差異,混音要能自然融合在一起的難度也極高,試想左右聲道不一樣的喇叭聽起來會是怎麼樣?不過大部份的錄音都是這樣做,我們聽怪異不自然與加料的音樂可能很久了!
錄音我也贊成先求"真"...........

But nowaday their much politic, why artist always record in the most comfortable downtown with all fancy decoration, but not the real studio
why the records label GM always so wheathy, why that's no good recording start from the root:- record labels' own profit,artist profit, marketing, and......
yes..........that's the problem
supply and demand
wrong demand causes the wrong supply
wrong supply causes the wrong demand
a vicious circle
