We had a fantastic time one weekend in June this summer when a good few of our distributors came to Marten Centre in Sweden for a visit. Good food, lots of late night chatting and of course listening to wonderful music in the big listening room. A few speeches and presentations were also held.

Matts Odemalm had a very interesting talk about the big listening room that he designed.

A big belated thank you to all, we’re looking forward to seeing you next summer.

In fact we’re still in Las Vegas, Nevada, having fun at the amazingly big CES 2011 show.

Yesterday evening we had a bit of a release party for our new products and here is Leif wishing our US distributor Dan Meinwald (E.A.R. USA) happy birthday.

This is not Leif singing an opera aria, he’s actually presenting his new Coltrane 2 and M•Amp Mono Power Amplifier.
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...ik-bostrom.jpg
And here is Patrik Boström, creator of the AMS Technology that is used in the amplifier. He’s seen through the rather sleek looking diffusors that really improves the sound quality in this quite small room. They come from Svanå MiljöTeknik, Sweden.
We have a lot more to show and tell and will be back soon.
Cheerio

Almost all packed up and ready to go. Here’s the cable guy, Jorma Koski, taking care of his cables that we used as usual. The show is all over and we’re tired but happy with a really busy show, for us anyway. It was really great but thankfully there’s a whole year until the next one:)
Many thanks to CES 2011 and Las Vegas for another cool show.
We will be back soon with more photos and stuff from CES.
Bye for now
Lars

Since CES 2011 we have received a lot of attention at different places around the internet. Here are some of the mentions we’ve had:
“The system looked and sounded truly wonderful, and both amps and speakers are well worth checking out.”Alan Sircom at The Absolute Sound
“At last year’s CES, many of my favorite rooms featured Sweden’s Marten speakers. The same held true this year.”Thank you for the music:) Erick Lichte, at stereophile
“So, how did it sound? Simply put, it was outstanding, highly detailed, very transparent and musical at the same time.”Key Kim at Stereotimes
“Another Swedish company making an excellent impression was Marten“the Audio Beat
“This was one of the few rooms to treat the room, and it contributed to an intimate, stimulating demonstration.”Dagogo.com
“Uber bass resolution.”Audio Federation
“Sweden’s Marten is well-regarded for its high-end speakers and takes a fair amount of pride in their audiophile-pleasing performance.”Paul Ridden at Gizmag
A massive thank you to all of you, from all of us here at Marten.
Momento in the Land of Smiles:)
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...02/bangkok.jpg
We have a brand new distributor in Bangkok – Thailand, the home of beautiful silk, delicious green curry and long sandy beaches.
Unfortunately we were not able to go to the very exclusive ‘BAV Hi-End show 2011′ in Bangkok where they exhibited. We don’t want to brag:) but we heard that our speakers were very well received and apparently some customers even suggested that they were ‘best in show ‘.
A big welcome our new distributor:

Marten/EAR
http://www.dagogo.com/assets/images/...-Adam-II-1.jpg
I walked into this room by mistake, and what a wonderful mistake it was. Though I did not hear the smaller system in the room, pictured above, the larger system was fantastic. The smaller system comprised of the EAR Acuete III CDP, EAR V12 integrated amplifier, and Marten Duke standmounts.
The larger system, Marten Getz, EAR/Technics 1500 Tape Deck, EAR 890 amp, and 912 per amp with laptop (sorry didn’t get the DAC) playing from iTunes with no mods. This was fantastic to listen to – not because the sound – it did sound well worth the money, but we were able to hear a variety of different sample rates and masters of the same Beatles cut. From 16bit lossless, 24bit remasters lossless, 24 bit rips from the original tape, and from the tape deck itself. It was interesting to hear the different level of detail and staging each format brought to the game. The analog, 24bit, and rip from the original tapes all sounded more natural, relaxed, and a bit more on the physical level of the speakers. The sound seemed to stay with the speakers. The 16bit CD version popped out and was in your face, as well as being less detailed. Fantastically it was good to hear it, as these younger ears, having listened for years to distortion and noise music, could hear more detailed in the distortion between the tape rips and 24 bit remaster, while the guy who owned what was demoing couldn’t really pick it out. Hey, not all distortion is the same! Anyhow, it was a great time, a great demo and I have a lot of respect for EAR and continued respect for Marten speakers. I didn’t hear as much variety in any other room at CES. And the only change was the source.

We ♥ Munich (and high-fidelity)
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...rm-660x132.jpg
What a great place Munich is. Walking around in this beautiful city in the spring weather is a real treat. Popping into a bierhalle for a drink here and there makes it all even better:)
The High End fair is exactly how you would expect it to be in Germany, neat, tidy and well organised with a lot of space for everyone. We had our room set up and ready yesterday evening and it’s actually sounding pretty darn good if we may say that ourselves.
Unfortunately I had a little memory mishap and forgot my Canon 50D that I usually use for all the blog photos but luckily, Leif’s little handy Olympus F1.8 takes great pictures so that is what we’ll be using for this show.
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...up-660x440.jpg
The Coltrane 2, M•Amp and M•Furniture set up with Jorma Design’s brand new cables, Unity. We also use SMT’s lovely looking diffusors that we had in our room at CES 2011 in Las Vegas.
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...up-660x440.jpg
The FormFloors, the FromSub and Bladelius Tyr, playing audio from a MacBook Air also makes for a pretty neat second set up.
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...om-660x391.jpg
Even if the room is quite large we actually filled it most of this rather busy day. Tomorrow the show will open for non-audio business people so maybe it will be even busier.
See you tomorrow with more form the rest of the show.
Lars

More music in Munich
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...43-660x495.jpg
We would’ve loved to go to the opera here in Munich, it’s supposed to be brilliant but there’s not enough time for that unfortunately. Maybe next time.
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...41-660x495.jpg
Across the square from the Munich Opera House there’s a proper old skool German Restaurant called Spatenhaus. They serve delicious German classics such as suckling pig, sausages, sauerkraut and white asparagus with Sauce Hollandaise. It would be impossible to leave the place hungry, as the portions are very German as well:) Our friends from China enjoyed as much as we did I think.

This is a pic from probably the most famous beer hall in Munich, Hofbräuhaus. You can see the stage in the foreground where the Oom-pah band will play every night. This place is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Munich, it’s absolutely huge with room for more than 3500 beer drinkers.
http://marten.se/blog/wp-content/upl...5/P5201196.jpg
It’s been there for more than 400 years and the biergarten at the back is lovely when the weather is nice. We spent an evening there with our mates from Finland, Hifihuone. Hopefully we’ll be back there sometime soon.
See you soon.
