At high driving level, they add distortion to the music you play, reducing the quality of sound reproduction.<br />
Whether you can hear the distortion depends on many factors - like the actual loudspeaker, the music you play, the loudness level, and the training of the listener.<br />
We provide an interactive listening test where we determine the audibility of nonlinear distortion for different music signals and different speakers.  <br />

<TD width="40%" class="cms_table_td"><b>Auralizing Distortion</b><br /><br />Normally, when playing music, you cannot easily separate the linear signal (what your loudspeaker is supposed to play) from the distortion. With a simulation, we can do that - and then mix it together again, but with the distortion enhanced or attenuated.<br />

Immediately after the test, you see your results - and you may compare your hearing capabilities with other listeners.<br />
You also get a feeling what kind of music or test signal is critical, or what kind of stimulus can be played on every speaker without hearing a difference.<br />
Finally, when you take the test again, you will most likely notice you find lower thresholds - your ear has been trained.</TD>

<div class="cms_table"><table width="80%" class="cms_table"><tr valign="top" class="cms_table_tr"><TD class="cms_table_td"><b>Overview</b><br /><br />In the past, the impact of the linear amplitude and phase response on sound quality have been investigated by using linear filters (equalizer). Linear distortion, however, describe the loudspeaker adequately only at small amplitudes. At high amplitudes, real loudspeakers produce other kinds of distortion, which should be investigated also systematically. This can be done using a nonlinear model of the loudspeaker able to synthesize loudspeaker output in the large signal domain.<br />
Measuring the parameters of the model, we can perform a real-time simulation for any input, like music or artificial test signals, providing the distortion components separated from the ideal linear output.<br />
The rest is simple: we pass the distortion and the linear signal through a mixing console, so we can emphasize or attenuate the distortion, or even listen to the distortion alone. This technique is called Auralization.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://www.klippel.de/listeningtest/lt/img/aura-det.gif" border="0" alt="" /></div>There are three major mechanisms in the electro-mechanical system that produce distortion:<br />
<ul><li style="">Bl(x): The variation of the Force Factor with displacement</li><li style="">C<sub>MS</sub>(x): The variation of suspension Compliance with displacement</li><li style="">L<sub>E</sub>(x): The variation of voice coil Inductance with displacement</li></ul>There are other nonlinear mechanisms as well, however, for most drivers, Bl, C<sub>MS</sub> and L<sub>E</sub> nonlinearities are by far the dominant sources of distortion, and it makes sense to analyze them in detail.<br />
<b>The Model</b><br /><br />Classic modeling assumes the loudspeaker is linear: you get only the frequencies that you also find at the input, and if you double the input, you get twice the output.<br />
The linear model assumes that all parameters are independent of displacement and time - and thus is valid only for small excursions. At notable displacement levels, the voice coil moves out of the gap and the force factor decays, the suspension gets (usually) stiffer with displacement, and the inductance changes. Thermal heating limits the output power, and the suspension gets softer at the rest position. Unfortunately, these mechanisms interact strongly, and so we end up with a nonlinear feedback system: adding new frequency and a DC component, compressing the output, and with &quot;history&quot; - behavior is dependent not only on the instantaneous signal, but also on the signal from the time before.<br />
<a href="http://www.klippel.de/listeningtest/lt/img/lsi-model-big.gif" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.klippel.de/listeningtest/lt/img/lsi-model.gif" border="0" alt="" /></a>This extended Loudspeaker Model is derived from the common Small Signal model, it allows variation of certain parameters over time and displacement, and other nonlinearities. The picture to the left shows a simplified representation (<a href="http://www.klippel.de/listeningtest/lt/img/lsi-model-big.gif" target="_blank"><b>click to enlarge</b></a>):<br />
The complete model we use includes additional effects, such as Para-Inductance, thermal power compression, jump out effect of the voice coil, nonlinear compression of the amplitude, and the complex interaction between the different nonlinearities. <br />
Extensive research in the recent years has shown that this model indeed describes the large signal behavior of a loudspeaker, or similar electro-dynamical transducer, correctly. It is also very easy to compare predicted results with classic distortion measurement.<br />
 <br />
<b>The Auralization Technique</b><br /><br />The Auralization can not only predict the sound pressure output of the loudspeaker, it can as well provide state information, such as displacement, velocity, voice coil temperature, etc.<br />
This allows a direct correlation of the subjective listening impression and the objective parameters and states of a loudspeaker. The impact of individual nonlinearities can be assessed separately, which allows to track artifacts in the listening impression back to their physical cause.<br />
Paper: <b>Prediction of speaker performance at high amplitudes</b><br />
<b>The Listening Test</b><br /><br />We prepared the listening test for two reasons: to provide a fairly non-technical introduction to the Large Signal behavior of loudspeakers, and to collect statistical data for a systematic investigation of the audibility of loudspeaker distortion. For this, we need your help.<br />
The test is an &quot;enforce blind A/B comparison&quot; meaning:<br />
<ul><li style="">The Listener compares two samples A and B, and has to tell which one is &quot;worse&quot; (is distorted)</li><li style="">It is blind - the listener doesn't know which sample is the original signal, and which one the distorted</li><li style="">It is enforced - There is no &quot;I don't know&quot; option:  even if the listener is unsure, he is asked to tell his opinion. This helps digging into subconscious, intuitive decisions, and avoids a &quot;rather than saying something wrong, I say nothing&quot; position. It is amazing how sensitive the ear can be to distortion, even though you cannot say definitely <i>what</i> makes the difference. However, some patience is required from the listener, to satisfy the statistical requirements</li></ul>Each test uses a particular test signal (music or artificial), simulated for a particular driver or loudspeaker. Each test consists of multiple steps, in each step, the listener is asked to compare two samples.<br />
Samples are provided with the distortion enhanced or attenuated versus the linear signal (usually in 3dB steps). e.g. &quot;-9dB&quot; means the distortion component was attenuated by 9dB, while the linear component is at 0 dB. The performance of the &quot;Real Speaker&quot; is obtained by neither attenuating nor enhancing distortion (both linear and distortion component are at 0 dB). Furthermore, a &quot;linear&quot; sample is provided, where the distortion is attenuated by 100dB.<br />
The listener always compares the linear to a distorted sample. The listener is asked to identify the distorted sample. The position (A or B) of the linear sample is randomized. <br />
To see how the test is evaluated, let's have a look at an example test:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://www.klippel.de/listeningtest/lt/img/test-sample.gif" border="0" alt="" /></div>The test starts at  high distortion levels (distortion enhanced by +12dB), which are easy to hear. If the listener identifies the distorted signal correctly, the test goes down by two steps. This is repeated until Step 5, where the listener judges incorrectly. The level of Step 5 (-12dB) is marked as first <i>turning point</i>, and the test goes up by three steps to make identification easier. From now on, the test goes <i>up by three</i> for a wrong response, and <i>down by one</i> for a correct one. The levels where the listener changes from correct response to incorrect are marked as &quot;turning points&quot; as well. For consecutive errors (like Step 5 + Step 6), the only lowest level counts.<br />
The Test continues until three turning points are found. In the sample, this is at -12dB, 0dB (Real Speaker), and -3dB. The distortion audibility threshold - where the listener can no longer tell the distorted signal apart - is determined as <i>Median </i>of the three turning points, i.e. the turning points are sorted - -12dB, -3dB, 0dB, and the center one is taken: For this test, the threshold is -3dB. <br />
Note: the median is not the average of the values - the average for the test would be -5dB. The Median is more resilient towards single lucky (or unlucky) guesses.<br />
The test provides a chart showing the distribution of thresholds for a single signal/speaker combination. Individual test results are retained for a more specific analysis.<br />

其實對一些配件的效果一直半信半疑，換個墊片真有那樣神奇？ 換上之後，最直接的感覺就是：<br />
<br />
1.形體變清晰了，小弟的系統上，總覺得樂器形體不清楚，尤其鋼琴獨奏...換上了，改善很多<br />
2.修飾毛邊，中高頻的毛邊也有改善，背景更黑<br />
3.細節增加，不過我想是因為背景黑了，所以細節增加<br />
4.低頻的改善來自背景和毛邊的改善，量感沒增加.<br />
5.持續觀察中，這東西應該不需要run-in吧 :D</div>

繼20X10蕭邦音樂節之後，經過兩年籌備策劃，在2012年我們將推出以鋼琴音樂為主的德布西(Claude Debussy，1862-1918)音樂節－德 布 西 150 Debussy Touch，向這位今年過150歲生日的作曲大師獻上最誠摯的敬意！不只是超凡曲調聖手，德布西雖曾寫下無數雋永迷人的經典旋律，但他更有領先時代的眼光，一次次打破傳統窠臼，為音樂史寫下革命性創新，是永遠活在未來的偉大作曲家。欣賞德布西，不只是聽動人音樂，更是了解十九世紀末至二十世紀初時代變動，認識音樂創作前進發展的重要指南。<br />
一如20X10蕭邦音樂節，此次德布西盛會也將寫下諸多嶄新紀錄，您不可不聽的理由如下：<br />

一、台灣創舉，演出德布西鋼琴獨奏作品全集<br />
 <br />
德布西鋼琴獨奏作品數量雖不如蕭邦眾多，要全數演完也絕非易事，特別是樂曲安排必須經過適當規劃，才能讓聽眾充分心領神會。這次我們以五套曲目演完德布西鋼琴獨奏作品全集，是國內空前創舉。<br />

二、鋼琴名家新秀齊聚，陣容堅強一時之選<br />
 <br />
此次邀請到的國際名家，巴佛傑(Jean-Efflam Bavouzet)與羅傑(Pascal Rogé)皆曾錄製叫好又叫座的德布西鋼琴作品全集，是此領域的頂尖大師。加上對法國音樂鑽研甚深的鄧泰山(Dang Thai Son)，還有首次來台的伊莉莎白皇后大賽冠軍、法國鋼琴名家布雷利(Frank Braley)，絕對是當今頂尖組合。<br />

這次音樂節不只上演德布西作品，也包含其他作曲家經典創作。而在德布西曲目中，我們也設計諸多對鋼琴家而言堪稱嚴苛考驗的高難度曲目規劃，也將演出不少現場罕聞的精彩作品。錯過此次，絕對遺憾！<br />

剛錄完德布西鋼琴獨奏作品全集，獲得國際評論熱烈讚賞及多項大獎的巴佛傑，將以三個半場，曲目時間長達兩個小時的獨奏會，向八月底過一百五十歲生日的德布西致敬。這場音樂會不僅規模空前，巴佛傑更將演奏他親自改編的德布西晚年芭蕾舞作《遊戲》(Jeux)之鋼琴獨奏版(亞洲首演)，為音樂節掀開序幕。<br />

說明：每個壓縮包中3段抓軌順序不一定。F1u和PPU都是USB鏈接電腦，使用EAC安全模式抓軌，開啟精確流和緩衝數據，無C2。讀取指令和偏移值都自動偵測。工作站裡面就是一台電腦，Win XP pro系統，DVD光驅是oem型號，沒有標識。內部用自家ripstation軟件，全部自動，無太多可設置。所有線材都是跟機線，電源方面有1600va隔離牛和T+A濾波排插在前，所有設備都在quadraspire器材架上。</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div><font size="4">今天到家家音響聽了臺灣第一台來自日本的T-01黑膠唱盤，Air Tight社長：三浦篤Atsushi Miura先生還在上面簽了名，Air Tight雖然來自物價水準高的日本，但產品價格卻非常實在，作工品質也都保留日本追求完美的精神沒有妥協，這台T-01空盤不含臂跟唱頭實售價約在20萬左右，家家賴老闆跟我說明，以這樣的價格與聲音表現，是這價位帶非常有競爭力的！<br />
<br />
T-01採用非常穩定的DC 24V低扭力馬達，可在33、45轉都可微調，本身有紅外線測速顯示，非常準，只要一調到定位，幾乎就不會變動了，賴老闆用別的測速器驗證過，非常準確，轉速正確是LP非常重要的一個地方，唱片聽起來才不會過快或過慢，T-01可以裝兩隻臂，因此用家可先跟原廠說要裝什麼臂，原廠就會準備好對應的臂板。臂板的安裝也很簡單，只要五顆六角螺絲就搞定了。<br />

T-01是磁浮盤，也是這價位少見的，也就是盤是磁浮的，中間陶瓷的軸心基本上只負責左右的平衡，上下則是懸空靠磁浮的，T-01在運轉時特別平順，幾乎感覺不到起伏，T-01對應配的角錐也是磁浮的，並可調水平。若喜歡硬盤的聲音，那軸心可以調到最高頂到盤，那就沒有磁浮的功能，調低一點，就是磁浮的軟盤，基本上磁浮軟盤的聲音比較活生，比較好聽。T-01全部都是金屬製成的，盤面本體應該是航太鋁，整個重達20多斤，Air Tight外銷T-01的轉盤比較重，約8公斤，日本內銷的只有約6kg，而且電壓只有100V，T-01的電源供應與主要電路是跟本體分開的，旁邊有開關、33/45切換及33、45微調的鈕，皮帶是矽膠材質的，較一般耐操。賴老闆為T-01裝上兩隻SME的唱臂，一隻為SME V號臂，24K金板，搭配Air Tight PC-1唱頭，另外一隻是SME M2新版的9吋臂，沒有裝唱頭，所以今天聽的當然是V號臂這組合了！唱片鎮是用Basis的。<br />
